Default Whats up with the Ghost towns

So i was in Kodash Bazzar yesterday in a American dis (dnt ask me why) and it was completly empty. I shouted out in guild chat to one of my American bruddas and he said it was 5pm (At least where he was) so i was wondering why is Kodash so empty its a city it has every merchant there is. I figure that the only ppl who go there are peeps LF vabbian and peeps doing primary quests. It is the same for Henge of Denravi its a town its a nice big place so why do ppl not go there :P i think the most visited city has got to be Kadaman for some reason it has become the unofficial trade city. All i want to know is why? Kadaman is a beginners town why on earth would peeps sell there items there? Aschlon is a beginners area and you never see anyone selling vlotic spears there do you. but my point is that Kadaman is a newbie town to and yet ppl sell there. Its all vry odd and i just wondered if anyone had a suggestion on why it is like that.
Plz post ur opinions

Kamadan is a port, just like LA and Kaineng are.

That's were the people congregate, because the 1/2 of the players are farming, 1/4 are selling and only a few are doing quests/missions.

At this stage in GW's life, not many people want/need to visit a lot of the towns/outposts.

Kamadan is as good as any other place for a trade centre. Lion's Arch is used a lot too (though not as much), and so is Kaineng (even less i think).

Although Kamadan is a "starter" town, new characters that appear there are frequently created by people who already have one or more high-level characters, money in stash etc.

If they want to buy good equipment, tomes etc for their new characters... it's handy if they can trade in a starter town, rather than be forced to go to a late-game town (with their high level characters), buy stuff, then transfer items to their low-level characters.

Many people create "mule" characters just for storage space. They are not played and remain low level. If someone wants to trade items from a mule, it's convenient that their low-level mules can trade directly in a "starter" area like Kamadan - rather than transfer to stash, load high-level character, retrieve from stash, make the trade.

It's funny you mention Ascalon, because the used to be THE place to sell stuff. Lions Arch caught on after a while, and Droks as well....but Ascalon D1 used to be worse the Kamadan is now.

yea, ascalon and droks were terrible back before factions, once factions came around LA became the main trade city in prophecies because that was the place you went to transfer to the other campaign. heck, you could find a good sale at Amnoon before factions came out. the only reason kamadan and kaineng and LA caught on is because they are the "port cities" where you can get to the other campaigns for the first time.

I can name a few reasons why the Henge of Denravi is usually only lightly populated:

1) It's got a horrible layout. For example, the chests are way off away from everything else and are a pain to get to.

2) There's a single quest, after which there's no reason to ever come back with that particular character.

3) Unless you're doing the Mission line and/or are wandering doing all the quests to get every last XP you can, the entirety of Maguuma Jungle can be easily skipped without really missing anything. Bergen Hot Springs/Nebo Terrace -> Cursed Lands -> The Black Curtain/Temple of Ages -> Talmark Wilderness -> Tears of the Fallen -> Stingray Strand/Sanctum Cay -> Crystal Desert.

It's not nearly as long, complicated, or as difficult a trip as it sounds, especially if you went to visit another campaign or EotN when you got to Lion's Arch. (actually, you miss out on 5 skill quests if you skip Maguuma Jungle, all in the western portion and well away from Maguuma Stade or the Henge, and 2 more if you bypass Fishermen's Haven when going through Stingray Strand, but you can always go back later)

Well defiantly the fact that they are port cities makes alot of snese i was just curious and wanted to hear what other peeps think. In my mind K-Center should be the best most active place simply because
1 its a port
2 its the only port wich allows 8 ppl
Henge of course is kinda odd but u know at the end of the day its still a city and i was well chuffed when i first went there because no one had ever so much as mentioned that it was there But generally the only peeps u find there are peeps doing the primary quests.
I think every city simply has a special somthing to it, Kadaman is my least fave quite simply because of the spam music and layout. my fave must be LA u can make a decent sale there and its normaly quite laid back there.
